Automotive OSes

Automotive OS Identification

The car. Or truck, SUV, or snowmobile. A automobile. Newer cars are computers too. They run Android (usually just the infotainment system) or BlackBerry QNX, yes they are still around. Most cars do not let you get to secret menus, but I know that the 2020 Honda Fit does, so I will show a quick video of how to get to the Android settings menu on the Honda Fit.

Well, they sure made it easy if you knew what you were looking for. So far, I have encountered no other cars who make it that easy. So, the Honda Fit runs Android. And most newer GM cars also run Android. If you want to, and have a car with a relatively new infotainment screen, then you can try to find a menu like that. I would say that the menu would be called something like "Detail Information", or "Debug Menu". Sometimes, you can find out something by going to the "Firmware Information" menu, but usually, there is little to no good information there. Most cars  usually run Android, QNX, or some sort of Windows CE. Next article we will take a look at self checkouts, and how to find out what OS a device runs just by tapping and dragging on the screen.

Thanks for reading! If you found this helpful/interesting, or think someone else in your life will find this interesting, please share it with them! it really helps, along with commenting about your experiences!
